I've been swimming since I was a child. I grew up on a lake, and it was a skill gained as a matter of course.
When I moved to NYC I remembered stories my Uncle George told me about swimming off the Christopher Street Pier (he grew up on Weehauken Street in the 1930's). NYC Swim has given me an opportunity to follow in this tradition.

| TEAM AWARDS PHOTO.... Nine months of thinking, training, and many questions.... All summed up in one Team Awards Photo!!!! For this team of young swimmers what a very satisfying feeling having successfully completed swimming 28.5 miles around manhattan island.... Enjoying every minute of our swim!!!! It was an honor to meet and swim with this years field of so many accomplished Open Water Marathon Swimmers. Our memories from swimmer introductions, stories told and gifts exchanged from other countries and states shows how the open water swim community is like a second family. Our competition is decided by mother nature.... The challenge never the same.. The satisfying reward of completion can not be expressed in words, only felt from deep within!!!! We would like to thank ALL those who contributed to making this event possible, successful and rewarding for us!!!! |
