Steve’s life ticket is open water marathon swimming. These outdoor events provide great challenges…. the power of water, waves, tidal pull, current, sealife, temperature, debris, weather which all add up to trying to reach and enjoy enhanced life experiences not found elsewhere. The training and events provide both a time of solitude and an opportunity to meet like minded people, including when volunteering at NYC Swim events and meeting all the nice people that help out. Steve belongs to L.O.S.T. Swimming (Lake Ontario Swim Team), where he gets a chance to be spoiled in such a Great Lake of clean, fresh open water which becomes a place for Summer weekend practice with a great group of avid swimmers. Swimming locally at home in Barrie, Ontario takes place in Kempenfelt Bay. Travelling has been a spin off of seeking open water swims in such waters as the Altantic, Pacific, San Francisco Bay, the Turkish Hellespont and the Rivers of New York City.
