I first started swimming at an early age as my parents encouraged me to join swim schools and then squads. When growing up I realised that pool swimming was not my greatest strength after I received a small taste of open water swimming. Whilst most of my training is done in the pool I much prefer competition outside of this in the open water. Whilst living in Perth I have been attracted to the range of events and now try and compete over the summer season. I have successfully completed twelve Rottnest Channel Solo Crossings and the Manhattan Island Marathon Swim in 2008 and 2010. One of the funnest events I have done is the Liberty Island Swim in 2010. This and the swims around Manhattan are a highlight and I dream of being able to do these events again sometime in the future.
