About David

David Freiman, certified yoga instructor and founder of My Good Life Yoga, has been practicing meditation since 1982 and yoga since 1990. His goal is to lower the barriers to doing yoga so that anyone can practice and receive the benefits. He works privately with clients offering individualized yoga and yoga therapy for wellness and emotional transformation. Freiman also works privately with children with special needs, particularly children with children with autism spectrum disorders who have difficulty following verbal and visual cues and those with physical involvement and frailty. He has taught yoga to children with autism at the Special Needs Activities Center for Kids (SNACK) afterschool program in Manhattan and to children and teens at The Child School/Legacy High School on Roosevelt Island. He gives talks for parent support groups at organizations such as Quality Services for the Autism Community (QSAC). Freiman has taught yoga classes pro bono for the NYC Parks and Recreation Department to make yoga accessible in under-served communities with a Vinyasa Hatha Power Yoga class at the Pelham Fritz Recreation Center in Harlem and other centers. Freiman had a ten year career as a sought-after computer trainer and consultant advising Fortune 100 companies on “bleeding edge” web technologies. The stressful corporate environment, with long hours, preparation that went into the early morning, and long commutes to client sites, created an unhealthy lifestyle and Freiman left the corporate technology field to pursue a career in yoga teaching eight years ago receiving his Prana Yoga teacher certification at the NY Open Center. For twenty years he has studied yoga with various leading teachers from many traditions and is trained in yoga therapy. Freiman has a busy private practice working with athletes, performers, and professionals, offers corporate wellness seminars, and specializes in adaptive yoga for older adults, and children with special needs. He is also a cellist and conductor with a music degree from University of Michigan; music and chanting form an important part of his personal yoga practice. He also gives talks on various yoga related subjects. Freiman, a native New Yorker and raised in Washington Heights, Manhattan, lives with his wife Ann and his four children.
