Amy is a journalist and a native New Yorker. She has over 14 years of experience working as a journalist for various publications including Time, the San Francisco Chronicle and The Deal. From 2006 through mid 2010 she was an avid member of Asphalt Green's Masters Swim Team, and taught swimming at Asphalt Green. In September 2010 she moved to Asia to take on a number of special projects for Shantou University's Cheong Kong School of Journalism in China, and The University of Hong Kong's Journalism and Media Studies Center. In Hong Kong she discovered a small but active group of open water swimmers who swim weekly at Repulse Bay, and some beautiful swimming pools including the 50 meter swimming pool at HKU. To be sure, her real passion (beyond writing( is swimming and the water, and she considers herself an "aquaholic." Her favorite open water swims have been in New York's waters including the Brooklyn Bridge Swim and the Manhattan Island Marathon Swim. She enjoys connecting with other passionate members of the open water swimming community around the world.
