The Cove-to-Cove swim is a 1/2 Mile course along the sea wall beginning at the South Cove at Battery Park City and finishing at the North Cove Yacht Harbor at the World Financial Center in Battery Park City.

Note that check-in for the race is located at the North Cove Yacht Harbor. Race start is at South Cove. By Car Please use mass transit to get to and from the race start/finish. By Subway Take the (R) to Rector Street or take the (4,5) to Bowling Green. Walk due west. Cross West Street into Battery Park City. Continue walk west to the promenade along Hudson River and head to north to check-in at the North Cove Yacht Harbor. Non-swimming supporters may head south along promenade to the swim start at South Cove. By Bus Take the M9, M10, or M22 to Battery Park City. Follow On Foot directions below. On Foot NCYH is downtown in Battery Park City outside of the World Financial Center�s Winter Garden. NCYH is on South End Avenue between Two World Financial Center and the Hudson River. Check In is adjacent to Pumpkin Park and NYC Police Memorial. Ferry Direct from the Lackawanna Terminal to the World Financial Center or Pier A. Information: (908) GO-FERRY. Experience Requirement:

Safety concerns require us to ensure that every participant in a NYC Swim swim event has adequate swim experience; thus we have set certain qualifying standards for participation in each of our events. Your registration for a NYC Swim swim is not complete until the NYC Swim receives acceptable evidence of your qualifying swim. The experience requirement for participating in the Cove to Cove Swim is as follows:

The completion of any NYC Swim open water swim, Aquathlon or open water swim clinic within the past three years (2003 - 2005)

----OR---

Any DOCUMENTED timed open water swim race of 3/4 Mile or more within the past three years (2003 - 2005)

----OR---

Any DOCUMENTED Sprint Triathlon with a timed Open Water Swim within the past three years (2003 - 2005)

----OR---

Pool Certification, in a manner consistent with the sample verification letter which can be accessed here, documenting the completion of a continuous 1 mile pool swim in 45 minutes or better and faxed to 212-784-6850. Your qualifying swim must take place no earlier than March 1st of the current year, and all pool certifications must be received by NYC Swim at least 14 days prior to the date of the race.

Predicted Water Conditions:

Approximately 70 to 74 degrees. Wetsuits may be worn.

There can be a substantial amount of chop in the water from wind & tide action. The waterways are salt-water and there is shipping traffic. There may be random jetsam & flotsam in the waterways.
