Governors Island Swim

Spend the morning jumping off a ferry boat and circling a piece of Manhattan at this challenging 2-Miler around the birthplace of New York City, with great views of Lower Manhattan, Jersey City, Staten Island, Brooklyn, and, of course, Governors Island itself.

Race Day Info: Spectators will be able to board the 6:45 AM swimmer ferry on a space available basis. In addition, we have made arrangements for an expanded ferry schedule on the day of the event. Spectators will be able to take the following special early morning ferries (all departing from the Battery Maritime Building):
Departure Times from Manhattan (with comments)
7:30 AM (Arrives at 7:50 am on Governors Island — in time for spectators to see the start of the race.)
8:15 AM (Arrives at 8:35 am on Governors Island. Spectators on this ferry may miss the race start.)
9:00 AM (Arrives at 9:20 am on Governors Island. Spectators taking this ferry will miss the race start.)
Nothing special is needed for spectators to access these ferries. Regular public ferry service to the Island will begin at 10:00 AM, and the full schedule can be viewed at http://www.govisland.com/html/visit/directions.shtml.
