Little Red Lighthouse Swim

This 5.85-Mile swim from Clinton Cove (Pier 96, at 56th Street) to 165th Street, within view of the Little Red Lighthouse, is one of our oldest and most popular events and features views of upper Manhattan, the Palisades, and the George Washington Bridge. Thanks to the expected tidal assist, this is a great way to get started with longer-distance swimming. Afterward, join your swim buddies for an informal, pay-as-you-go party at Coogan's Restaurant (4015 Broadway at 169th Street).

Course Description

Participants will enter the water at Clinton Cove in Hudson River Park, initially swimming in a slight northwesterly direction to clear boats moored at the 79th Street Boat Basin. Swimmers should maintain this distance from shore (approximately 1/4 Mile) as they continue north in order to avoid being swept into the water treatment plant located at Riverbank State Park (135th - 145th Street).

Swimmers must achieve the following landmarks by the prescribed cut-off times in order to continue on to the finish of the race:

Riverside Side Park at 99th Street
1 hour 25 minutes

Grant’s Tomb
1 hour 45 minutes

Riverbank State Park (North Side)
2 hours 20 minutes

158th Street HH exit
2 hours 40 minutes
