Little Red Lighthouse Swim

The Little Red Lighthouse swim is a 5.85 Mile swim from Clinton Cove (Pier 96), Hudson River Park at 56th Street to 165th Street, within view of the Little Red Lighthouse. This event's course has evolved over the years. This season we're swimming north, with the current, toward the Lighthouse. This event is named, of course, after the Little Red Lighthouse that sits under the GW Bridge on the Manhattan side of the Hudson river.

After the event, all racers, volunteers, and their friends are invited to join the NYC Swim staff at Coogan's Restaurant (Broadway at 169th Street) for an informal pay-as-you-go party.

Course Description

Participants will enter the water at Clinton Cove in Hudson River Park, initially swimming in a slight northwesterly direction to clear boats moored at the 79th Street Boat Basin. Swimmers should maintain this distance from shore (approximately 1/4 Mile) as they continue north in order to avoid being swept into the water treatment plant located at Riverbank State Park (135th - 145th Street).

Swimmers must achieve the following landmarks by the prescribed cut-off times in order to continue on to the finish of the race:

Riverside Side Park at 99th Street
1 hour 25 minutes

Grant’s Tomb
1 hour 45 minutes

Riverbank State Park (North Side)
2 hours 20 minutes

158th Street HH exit
2 hours 40 minutes
