Final Race Results Are Now Posted
First there was the Manhattan Island Swim, then came the Governors Island Swim. Now you can be a part of NYC Swim Events' newest circumnavigation at the fourth annual Statue of Liberty (Liberty Island) Swim – a 1.2-kilometer counterclockwise swim around Liberty Island, the home of the Statue of Liberty.
Taking place this Friday, June 29, it's a great way to kick off a summer weekend!
Everyone is welcome to attend the post-event barbecue on the Island, whether or not you are swimming or are a guest of a swimmer. For more details and to purchase tickets, please click here. The deadline to purchase tickets is 10:30 AM on Friday, June 29.

From Gangway 5 in Battery Park, Manhattan, to Liberty Island:
12:20 PM – 4:30 PM: Every 20-25 minutes
From Liberty State Park, Jersey City, New Jersey to Liberty Island:
12:30 PM – 4:30 PM: Every 40 minutes
The above times are regularly scheduled tourist ferries for which we will have expedited check-in and entry. The last boat leaves at 4:30 and there is security screening etc. prior to boarding; we will not be able to accommodate arrivals after 4:10 PM.
Check in at the NYC Swim tent for access. If you wish to travel to the island earlier, you will need to purchase a ticket from Statue Cruises.
By Subway:
Local 1 to South Ferry, or Express 4 or 5 to Bowling Green, or R/W to Whitehall Street Station.
By Bus:
M15 (East Side) to South Ferry or M6 (West Side) from 57th Street.
By Car:
Take FDR Drive South, Exit 1 South Ferry Battery Park from East Side or Westside Highway South (9A) until it dead ends from West Side. (Due to limited parking, we suggest that you use mass transit to get to and from Battery Park.)
Please allow ample time to arrive at race check-in/start. If you miss the 4:30 ferry, you will miss the race. Note that disruptions to subway service are possible. Check www.mta.info for service advisories that may affect your trip. |

| | Age Requirement: | 15 years and over (younger swimmers may be accepted based on swimming experience). | | Experience Requirement: | Safety concerns require us to ensure that every participant in a NYC Swim swim event has adequate swim experience; thus we have set certain qualifying standards for participation in each of our events. You may register for a NYC Swim event even if you have not completed a qualifying swim, and your enrollment will be approved upon verification of your qualifying swim details. It is your responsibility to submit qualification information. NYC Swim does not provide refunds or transfers for swimmers who are not approved to participate in an event.
The experience requirement for participating in the 2012 Statue of Liberty (Liberty Island) Swim is as follows:
All solo finishers of the 2010, 2011 or 2012 Manhattan Island Marathon; or 2010, 2011 Ederle Swim OR the 2010, 2011 Statue of Liberty (Liberty Island) Swim

Finish in the top 85% of any NYC Swim open water swim since January 1, 2010

Finish in the top 85% of the swim portion of an NYC Swim Aquathlon since January 1, 2010

Pool Certification in a manner consistent with the sample template, which can be accessed on your user profile swimmer page, documenting the completion of a continuous pool swim of 1650 yards/1500 meters in 35 minutes or better since January 1, 2012. To provide the best indicator of open water ability and a solid basis for comparison with other swimmers’ pool times, the pool swim should ideally be done in a deep-water, competition-length pool. [Where to do a pool certification swim] [How to upload pool certification] A USMS One Hour Swim of at least 2825 yards/2570 meters (entered with the coach or official in lieu of the lifeguard name) from January 2012 may be used to fulfill this requirement.
Your pool swim must take place no earlier than January 1st of the current year, and all pool certifications and qualifying swim information must be received by NYC Swim at least 14 days prior to the date of the race (no later than June 15, 2012). Swimmers who enroll after June 15th must submit their qualification information to NYC Swim within 24 hours of enrollment. Participants qualifications will not be accepted, reviewed or approved on race day. | | Predicted Water Conditions: | Water temperature will be above 68 degrees. Swimmers wearing wetsuits/non-traditional swim attire will not be eligible for awards in this year's race. The full wetsuit policy can be viewed here.
There can be a substantial amount of chop in the water from wind & tide action. The waterways are salt-water and there is shipping traffic. There may be random jetsam & flotsam in the waterways.
