On June 18, 2011 NYC Swim will present the annual 28.5 Mile Manhattan Island Marathon Swim. This is our longest and premier event of the season, a full counter-clockwise circumnavigation of the island of Manhattan.
The 2011 field includes more than 40 solo swimmers and relay teams, the strongest and largest in 20 years, with swimmers from the U.S., Australia, England, Italy, Spain, Mexico, Portugal, and Ireland. The top two finishers will earn the right to return on September 28 for a match race and attempt to break the record around the island.

Take the (R) to Rector Street or take the (4,5) to Bowling Green. Walk due west. Cross West Street into Battery Park City. Continue walking west to the Esplanade along the Hudson River and head north to the North Cove Yacht Harbor or south to South Cove.Please note that weekend disruptions to subway service are possible. Take the M9, M10, or M22 to Battery Park City. Follow On Foot directions below.
On Foot
North Cove Yacht Harbor is located in Battery Park City, on South End Avenue between Two World Financial Center and the Hudson River, outside of the World Financial Center’s Winter Garden. Check In is adjacent to Pumpkin Park and NYC Police Memorial. South Cove, the start of the race, is located 1/2 mile south of North Cove.

2009 or 2010 finisher of the Ederle Swim, or
2009 or 2010 finisher of the English Channel solo swim, or
2009 or 2010 finisher of the Catalina Channel solo swim, or
Observed open water swim that is 4 hours or longer in a Prescribed Water Temperature or colder,
completed between May 29, 2010 and April 15, 2011, without

2-Person Relay Teams
Qualifying swim includes:
Solo MIMS Requirements above, or
2009 or 2010 finisher of a 4-Person MIMS relay, or
Observed open water swim that is 2 hours and 30 minutes or longer in a Prescribed Water Temperature or colder,
completed between May 29, 2010 and April 15, 2011, without

4-Person and 6-Person Open Relay Teams
Each person's Qualifying Swim should be done without a wetsuit and should include one of the following:
2-person MIMS Relay Team Member requirements above, or2009 or 2010 finisher of a 6-Person MIMS Relay, or
2009 or 2010 finisher of a 6-Person English Channel Relay, or
2009 or 2010 finisher of a 6-Person Catalina Channel Relay, or
2009 or 2010 finisher of an open water swim race of at least 1500 meters in a Prescribed Water Temperature or colder, or
2009 or 2010 finisher of a triathlon that includes a swim leg of at least 1500 meters in a Prescribed Water Temperature or colder, or
2009 or 2010 finisher of a NYC Swim open water swim race of any length in a Prescribed Water Temperature or colder, or
Observed open water swim that is 30 minutes or longer in a Prescribed Water Temperature or colder,

Qualifying Swims: NYC Swim will rescind the acceptance of any solo applicant or relay team that fails to submit proof of completion of qualifying swim(s) by April 15, 2011. The complete application and all fees must be received by January 23, 2011. NYC Swim will not consider any incomplete applications for solo swimmers or relay teams that do not include payment in full of the entry fee. Applicants who have their acceptances rescinded will receive a refund of all fees they have paid, excluding the $150 processing fee and all credit card transaction fees.
