Please Note: In addition to the swimmer application fee, each participant must provide his or her boat captain with a service fee of $650 cash and must separately source, secure, and directly remunerate a paddler/kayaker.
Due to the dramatic increase in fuel prices for boaters since enrollment first opened in January, there will also be a $165 fuel surcharge collected from each participant and shared with all vessels (swimmer and course) used to support the event. | | Awards: | Certificates will be presented at a ceremony following the completion of the event. | | Age Requirement: | 19 years and over (younger swimmers may be accepted based on swimming experience). | | Experience Requirement: | All applicants must complete and submit proof of a 3-hours or longer Qualifying Swim by August 1, 2008 in order to be eligible to participate.
Qualifying Swim includes:
2006, 2007 or 2008 solo or 2-person relay finishers of the Manhattan Island Marathon Swim
2006, 2007 or 2008 finishers of the English Channel solo swim
2006, 2007 or 2008 finishers of the Catalina Channel solo swim 2007 finishers of the Ederle SwimOpen-water swim that is that is 3 hours or longer in water that is 62°F, (16.7°C) or colder,
completed between October 1, 2007 and July 31, 2008, without
a wetsuit.
If you have not completed a Qualifying Swim before your application is submitted, your application may be approved subject to the satisfactory completion of the Qualifying Swim, provided you submit proof of a Qualifying Swim before August 1, 2008.
NYC Swim will rescind the acceptance of any applicant who fails to submit proof of completion of their qualifying swim(s) by August 1, 2008. NYC Swim will not consider any incomplete applications for swimmers that do not include payment in full of the entry fee. Applicants who have their acceptances rescinded will receive a refund of all fees they have paid, excluding a $75 processing fee.
