Continue walking west to the Esplanade along the Hudson River and head south along the Esplanade to the swim start at South Cove. Please note that weekend disruptions to subway service are possible. By Bus
Take the M9, M10, or M22 to Battery Park City. South Cove is located on the Esplanade in Battery Park City, between First Place and Third Place.

North Cove Yacht Harbor is located in Battery Park City, on South End Avenue between Two World Financial Center and the Hudson River, outside of the World Financial Center’s Winter Garden. Check In is adjacent to Pumpkin Park and NYC Police Memorial.

| Age Requirement: | 15 years and over |
| Experience Requirement: | Safety concerns require us to ensure that every participant in a NYC Swim swim event has adequate swim experience; thus we have set certain qualifying standards for participation in each of our events. Your registration for a NYC Swim swim is not complete until the NYC Swim receives acceptable evidence of your qualifying swim. The experience requirement for participating in the Cove to Cove Swim is as follows:
The completion of any
NYC Swim open water swim, Aquathlon or open water swim
clinic within the past three years (2005 - 2007)
----OR---
Any DOCUMENTED timed open water swim
race of 3/4 Mile or more within the past three years (2005 - 2007)
----OR---
Any DOCUMENTED Sprint Triathlon with a
timed Open Water Swim within the past three years (2005 - 2007)
----OR---
Pool Certification in a manner consistent with the sample template, which can be accessed on your user profile swimmer page, documenting the completion of a continuous 1 Mile pool swim in 45 minutes or better. Swim must take place in a traditional swimming pool; "Endless Pool" swims are not acceptable for qualification purposes.
Your pool swim must take place no earlier than March 1st of the current year, and all pool certifications and qualifying swim information must be received by NYC Swim at least 14 days prior to the date of the race (no later than September 15, 2007). Swimmers who enroll after September 15th must submit their qualification information to NYC Swim within 24 hours of enrollment. Participants qualifications will not be accepted, reviewed or approved on race day. |
| Predicted Water Conditions: | Approximately 70 to 74 degrees. Wetsuits may be worn but may affect a swimmer's eligibility for awards. The full wetsuit policy can be viewed here.
There can be a substantial amount of chop in the water from wind & tide action. The waterways are salt-water and there is shipping traffic. There may be random jetsam & flotsam in the waterways. For additional information on swimming and water quality in the Hudson River, please see our FAQ page. |
