Stars & Stripes: Aquathlon and Swim

This unique, fun and challenging multi-sport event includes a 1.5 km swim in the Hudson River and a flat, fast and scenic 5 km run through Riverside Park with views of the Hudson River, George Washington Bridge, the New Jersey shoreline and much more. Go the distance solo, or form a 2-person team.
After the event, all racers, volunteers, and their friends are invited to join the NYC Swim staff at Pier I Cafe (Hudson River at 70th Street) for coffee, croissants, and good company. Situated along the Aquathlon's run course and with a great view, it's the perfect place to spend part of your Sunday morning. (All attendees are responsible for paying for their own food and drinks.)

This year we are proud to offer participants the option of purchasing their event pictures through Brightroom. Please click here to learn more.

Your registration for a NYC Swim swim is not complete until the NYC Swim receives acceptable evidence of your qualifying swim. To participate in the NYC Aquathlon: Stars & Stripes, you must have completed one of the following:

* Any NYC Swim (nycswim.org) open water swim, Aquathlon or open water swim clinic since May 2005

* Any DOCUMENTED timed open water swim race of 3/4 mile or more since May 2005

* Any DOCUMENTED Sprint Triathlon with a timed Open Water Swim since May 2005

* A continuous 1-mile pool swim in 45 minutes or better. (Swim must take place in a traditional swimming pool; "Endless Pool" swims are not acceptable for qualification purposes.) Your pool swim must take place no earlier than March 1st of the current year, and all pool certifications and qualifying swim information must be received by NYC Swim at least 14 days prior to the date of the race (no later than July 1, 2007). Athletes who enroll after July 1st must submit their qualification information to NYC Swim within 24 hours of enrollment. Participants qualifications will not be accepted, reviewed or approved on race day. Pool Certification must be submitted in a manner consistent with the sample template, which can be accessed on your user profile swimmer page
Predicted Water Conditions:Approximately 70 to 75 degrees. Wetsuits may be worn but may affect a swimmer's eligibility for awards. The full wetsuit policy can be viewed here. Swimmers wearing wetsuits will not be eligible for awards in this year's race.
