The M23 bus crosses Manhattan on West 23rd Street and stops directly in front of the northern entrance to Hudson River Park at Chelsea Piers. The M14 bus crosses Manhattan on 14th Street and stops at 16th Street in front of the southern entrance to Hudson River Park at Chelsea Piers. The M23 and M14 buses connect with all of Manhattan's north-south bus routes and subway lines.

By Pedestrian Access
Traffic lights and crosswalks guide pedestrians, skaters and cyclists safely across the West Side Highway at 22nd, 20th and 18th Streets. Hudson River Park at Chelsea Piers is also accessible from the Hudson River Park bikeway/walkway that parallels the Hudson River. Motorized, on-site "people movers" shuttle visitors between piers within the Complex. Bike racks are located throughout Hudson River Park at Chelsea Piers.
Parking
Cars will enter Hudson River Park at Chelsea Piers from the Hudson River Boulevard at approximately 23rd Street. There will be a "Chelsea Piers Only" access road exiting from the southbound lane of the highway. Traffic will be one-way only along the East Roadway, with three (3) staggered parking booths at both the entrance and exit to the Hudson River Park at Chelsea Piers.

By Subway
Take the (R) to Rector Street or take the (4,5) to Bowling Green. Walk due west. Cross West Street into Battery Park City. Continue walk west to the promenade along Hudson River and head to north to the North Cove Yacht Harbor.
Please note that subway service on the 4 and 5 trains may be disrupted this weekend. The R train to Rector Street may be the closest available stop. Check www.mta.info for service advisories that may affect your trip.

Take the M9, M10, or M22 to Battery Park City. Follow On Foot directions below.
On Foot
NCYH is downtown in Battery Park City outside of the World Financial Center’s Winter Garden. NCYH is on South End Avenue between Two World Financial Center and the Hudson River. Check In is adjacent to Pumpkin Park and NYC Police Memorial.

| Experience Requirement: | Safety concerns require us to ensure that every participant in a NYC Swim swim event has adequate swim experience; thus we have set certain qualifying standards for participation in each of our events. Your registration for a NYC Swim swim is not complete until the NYC Swim receives acceptable evidence of your qualifying swim. The experience requirement for participating in the Race for the River Swim is as follows:
The completion of any
NYC Swim open water swim, Aquathlon or open water swim
clinic within the past three years (2004 - 2006)
----OR---
Any DOCUMENTED timed open water swim
race of 1.5 Mile or more within the past three years (2004 - 2006)
----OR---
Any DOCUMENTED Triathlon with a
timed 1.5 kilometers or longer open water swim within the past three years (2004 - 2006)
----OR---
* Pool Certification in a manner consistent with the sample template, which can be accessed on your user profile swimmer page, documenting the completion of a continuous 2 Mile pool swim in 1 hour and 30 minutes or better. Your qualifying swim must take place no earlier than July 1st of the current year, and all pool certifications must be received by NYC Swim at least 14 days prior to the date of the race. |
