The Little Red Lighthouse swim is a 7.8 Mile swim from Hudson River Park, Pier 62 at 23rd Street to the Little Red Lighthouse at the George Washington Bridge.

Directions to the Race Start: By Public Transportation: The M23 bus crosses Manhattan on West 23rd Street and stops directly in front of the northern entrance to Hudson River Park at Chelsea Piers. The M14 bus crosses Manhattan on 14th Street and stops at 16th Street in front of the southern entrance to Hudson River Park at Chelsea Piers. The M23 and M14 buses connect with all of Manhattan's north-south bus routes and subway lines. N, R - Fifth Avenue F, PATH - Sixth Avenue 1, 9 - Seventh Avenue C, E - Eighth Avenue By Pedestrian Access: Traffic lights and crosswalks guide pedestrians, skaters and cyclists safely across the West Side Highway at 22nd, 20th and 18th Streets. Hudson River Park at Chelsea Piers is also accessible from the Hudson River Park bikeway/walkway that parallels the Hudson River. Motorized, on-site "people movers" shuttle visitors between piers within the Complex. Bike racks are located throughout Hudson River Park at Chelsea Piers. Parking: Cars will enter Hudson River Park at Chelsea Piers from the Hudson River Boulevard at approximately 23rd Street. There will be a "Chelsea Piers Only" access road exiting from the southbound lane of the highway. Traffic will be one-way only along the East Roadway, with three (3) staggered parking booths at both the entrance and exit to the Hudson River Park at Chelsea Piers. By Car from New Jersey: Lincoln Tunnel and George Washington Bridge: Follow signs for West Side Highway (Henry Hudson Parkway) South to West 23rd Street. At West 23rd Street, turn right at the traffic light into the Hudson River Park at Chelsea Piers. Holland Tunnel: Follow signs for West Street (West Side Highway) North to West 23rd Street. At West 23rd Street, turn left at the traffic light into the Hudson River Park at Chelsea Piers.

Directions to the Race Finish: By Car: Exit Henry Hudson Parkway, Route 9A, at the GWB. Take the 179th or 181st Street exit. Off the exit, drive west to the end of 181st Street (look for street parking). Follow On Foot directions below. By Subway: Take the A train to 181st street. Follow On Foot directions below. By Bus: Take the M4 or M98 to 181st street. Follow On Foot directions below. On Foot: Walk to the end 181st Street (all the way west towards Hudson River). Proceed north (right) one block. Take Pedestrian bridge (on left) across the Henry Hudson Pkwy and follow path (and Red Lighthouse markers painted on the sidewalk) to the race start.

Awards will be presented approximately 20 minutes after the last swimmer exits the water.

Age Requirement:

15 years and over

Experience Requirement:

To participate as an Experienced Swimmer, you will need to have completed a 1500 meter (1 Mile) swim or longer in OPEN WATER at a pace of 50 minutes per mile or under in the last three years to qualify. You will be required to also fax copy of results to 212-784-6850, thank you. A Non-Experienced Swimmer will have to complete a continuous 2 mile POOL SWIM in 1 hour and 30 miuntes or better. Must fax copy of verification letter to 212-784-6850, on Pool/Club letterhead stating date, time completed, witnessing lifeguard's name and phone #.

Predicted Water Conditions:

Approximately 65 degrees. There can be a substantial amount of chop in the water from wind and tide action. The waterways are saltwater and there is shipping traffic. There may be random jetsam and flotsam in the waterways.
