Swimmers Loop Manhattan Island In Annual Marathon Posted online: Sunday, 24 June 2001       Copyright ©   A Brazilian man and a woman from Seattle swam to victory in the 20th annual Manhattan Island Marathon Swim Saturday. Igor de Souza, 37, won the male division, taking 8 hours, 1 minute and 49 seconds to make the 28.5-mile swim around Manhattan Island. In the women's division the winner was 25-year-old Morgan Filler of Seattle. Her time was 8 hours, 4 minutes and 46 seconds. In all, 78 swimmers from 7 countries and 11 U.S. states, competed in the event. - NY1 News
